In a private hospital at Kolkata, I was told that the OT charge for a day care admission is Rs 9400 whereas if the doctor advises one day stay, the same charge will be Rs 19400. On asking why this difference since OT facility use does not change in both cases, I was told that this is their practice and also the practice in other private hospitals. I cannot understand the reason. Can you?
