Consumer Redressal

I am unable to get dues from a PPF account in name of my deceased minor daughter (Shaurya Pitale) with Dadar Post Office (a/c balance Rs. 1,63,919/-), which was operated by me (guardian), as they are demanding Succession Certificate (a time-consuming, costly process which may not be applicable to minors). After several trips (Nov 2010 - May 2011) & representation to Regional Director, National Savings Institute (who gave favorable letter), Postal Authorities continue to demand Succession Certificate (their last letter - Sept 2011). My genuine claim for balance in PPF account of my minor deceased daughter where: • account opened and operated by me as her mother and guardian; • only other guardian (my husband / Shaurya’s father) has provided no-objection; • no nomination in a/c because of procedural limitations in PPF Act which disallows nomination for a minor holder; is being denied, and I am harassed by Postal authorities unduly asking for Succession Certificate for a deceased minor.
