I purchased a Sony LCD TV (KDL-32CX520) on 01-2-2012 for Rs 28,200. The protection glass over the LCD screen developed a crack. I brought the set to an Authorized Sony Centre (ASC) TECH SHOP in Guwahati on 26-03-2012. The ASC declared that the set will not get warrantee coverage as it was not a Sony India product (though I showed the retail invoice). When asked for an estimate, the ASC gave me an estimate for a whopping Rs10,382. This was for complete replacement of LCD Panel (LCD Screen plus protection glass). But LCD Screen of my TV was perfectly working. I wanted to take back the set without servicing. The ASC charged me Rs 662 for all this. On 16 Apr, I brought the set to another ASC - C.P. Enterprise. Since I suffered a lot, I decided to pay Rs. 10,513 and got the TV repaired (the cost of LCD Panel Rs 9,839 plus labour charge Rs. 674). My points are: 1. why the first ASC M/s Tech Shop charged me Rs662 just for the estimate? 2. Why Sony forced me to pay for whole panel?
